Fake Job Ads Targeting Job Seekers Circulate Online, IEBC Issues Urgent Warning.
Nairobi, Kenya – The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has issued an urgent public alert warning Kenyans about a surge in fraudulent job advertisements circulating on social media platforms.
The commission cautions that scammers are creating fake posts advertising non-existent positions in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting job seekers.
In a statement shared on its official channels, the IEBC clarified that its sole and official recruitment portal is https://jobs.iebc.or.ke/. The commission emphasized that any advertisement directing applicants to other websites, phone numbers, or requiring payment for applications should be treated as fake.
“Beware of fraudulent job advertisements on social media,” the IEBC stated. For accurate and up-to-date information regarding vacancies or any other commission business, the public is advised to visit the official website at https://www.iebc.or.ke/.
The commission further urged citizens to rely only on its verified social media platforms, listed as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), to avoid misinformation.
The warning comes amid a broader national conversation on electoral reforms and transparency, highlighted by the hashtags #FormNiDialogue, #YourVoteYourFuture, and #TalkwithIEBC. The IEBC reiterated its commitment to fighting misinformation, using the hashtag #StopFakeNews to spread the word.
Job seekers are reminded to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any job advertisement through official government portals before submitting personal information or money.
