Position Overview
The Beginnings Fund is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Grants Finance Officer to manage the financial aspects of its grantmaking and operational activities. The successful candidate will ensure financial compliance, oversee grant disbursements, and support grantees in meeting financial and reporting standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial integrity, and the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and countries.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and monitor annual operational budgets and forecasts, ensuring accurate cash flow management and financial reporting.

Prepare and present monthly financial reports to executive leadership for strategic decision-making.

Collaborate with Program and M&E teams to develop country, regional, and learning investment plans.

Conduct financial due diligence for potential grantees and compile detailed investment budgets.

Oversee grantee audits, financial reviews, and independent verification processes.

Identify and mitigate financial risks in investment and grant plans.

Manage grant and operational disbursements in line with fund policies and agreements.

Oversee operational imprest funds across country offices and ensure timely payments in coordination with the fiscal sponsor or employer of record.

Review, approve, and train grantees on financial reporting templates and compliance requirements.

Provide technical financial support and mentorship to grantees, including site visits and training sessions.

Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth project implementation and adherence to financial standards.

Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

5–7 years of experience in financial management within global health, development, or donor-funded organizations.

Strong knowledge of international and national accounting practices and relevant financial legislation.

Proven experience in grant finance management, audits, and compliance.

Familiarity with donor collaboratives, large NGOs, or philanthropic foundations.

Experience working with fiscal sponsors or hosting organizations.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively in a startup environment and manage multiple priorities.

Willingness to travel locally and internationally up to 30–50% of the time.
