IEBC Announces 12,520 Temporary Jobs for Nationwide Voter Registration

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has opened applications for 12,520 temporary positions to support a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise at the ward level across the country.

Available Positions

IEBC is hiring for the following roles:

  • Voter Registration Assistants: 1,450 vacancies

  • Voter Registration Clerks: 10,780 vacancies

  • ICT Clerks: 290 vacancies

Successful candidates will earn approximately Ksh 2,000 per day for the duration of the assignment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Voter Registration Assistants

  • Supervise registration clerks at the ward level

  • Plan and coordinate KIEMS kit movements

  • Collate and submit voter registration data

  • Ensure security of materials and equipment

  • Monitor progress to meet ward registration targets

Voter Registration Clerks

  • Operate KIEMS/VIU tablets for biometric registration

  • Verify applicant eligibility and guide them through the process

  • Assist with registration forms and ensure safe custody of equipment

  • Transmit daily voter data to Registration Officers

ICT Clerks

  • Set up, configure, and operate KIEMS kits and related ICT equipment

  • Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting

  • Ensure secure data transmission and backups

  • Maintain ICT logs and assist in training registration staff

Qualifications

General Requirements (All Positions):

  • Kenyan citizenship

  • Minimum KCSE C- or equivalent

  • Computer literacy and ICT skills

  • Integrity, accountability, and confidentiality

Additional Requirements:

  • Voter Registration Assistants: Minimum age 21, resident in the applying ward, Diploma in ICT or related field, fluent in English and Kiswahili

  • Voter Registration Clerks: Minimum age 19, Diploma in ICT, Statistics, Education, or Business Administration is an advantage

  • ICT Clerks: Certificate or Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or Information Systems; basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking

Important: Applicants must not have held political office or stood as a candidate or party agent in the last five years.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates must present their National ID, academic certificates, and other relevant documents. Successful applicants will undergo training and take an oath of secrecy before deployment.

This exercise is part of IEBC’s constitutional mandate to facilitate continuous voter registration across all 290 constituencies. The campaign aims to expand the voter roll from 22.1 million to include an additional 6.3 million eligible voters, supported by a budget of Sh8 billion for registration, voter education, and system maintenance.
