Position Overview
The U.S. Embassy to Kenya is seeking to hire a qualified Information Management Assistant (Diplomatic Technology Assistant) to join its Diplomatic Technology Customer Engagement team.
This role provides frontline technical and systems support to Embassy personnel, addressing IT issues, maintaining system functionality, and ensuring smooth day-to-day digital operations. The position requires a Top Secret Security Clearance and the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service Desk Support, Operations, and Systems Administration (70%)

Provide technical assistance and basic systems administration for both classified and unclassified systems.

Offer frontline customer support in person, via phone, email, or chat.

Manage user accounts and assist staff in resolving IT-related issues.

Maintain operational functionality of mission systems and ensure timely escalation of complex technical problems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve hardware and software challenges.
2. Event and VIP IT Support (15%)

Provide on-site IT support during official functions, meetings, and high-level events.

Set up and manage audiovisual and conferencing systems to ensure seamless execution.
3. Training, Knowledge Management, and Cybersecurity (15%)

Assist in staff IT training and orientation programs to strengthen digital literacy and security awareness.

Support cybersecurity awareness initiatives, ensuring compliance with Embassy technology policies.

Contribute to documentation and knowledge management efforts for technical support processes.
4. Projects and Administrative Support

Support technology-related projects and ensure effective coordination between departments.

Perform additional administrative or operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
-
Completion of at least two years of full-time post-secondary study at a recognized college or university (equivalent to diploma or higher).
Experience:
-
Minimum two (2) years of experience in an office or administrative setting, providing IT support or customer service using office productivity software and online applications.
Skills and Competencies:

Strong technical troubleshooting and communication skills.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common productivity tools.

Ability to work effectively in a high-security and fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data confidentiality.
