Senior Research Fellow (Project Coordinator) – CEMA

Job Specification:

  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Epidemiology, Clinical Studies, or a related field.
  • PhD in Environmental Science or Agricultural Science or a related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience managing complex, donor-funded health or research projects in low-resource, multi-site settings, with a focus on arid and semi-arid regions, including oversight of diverse field teams and cross-functional coordination.
  • Demonstrated leadership in project coordination involving multiple stakeholders, including academic institutions, government agencies, local communities, and international donors.
  • Proven experience coordinating the implementation of field-based research projects.
  • Strong understanding of zoonotic disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and health systems strengthening in pastoralist or rural communities.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Ability to oversee and support capacity-building initiatives for local research and health personnel.
  • Competence in quality assurance, data integrity, and monitoring of project performance indicators.
  • In-depth knowledge of Isiolo County’s health and operational landscape is an added advantage.
  • Strong commitment to equity, ethics, and community engagement in research.
  • Ability to work independently and travel frequently to project sites.

Data Analyst – CEMA

Job Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields; Statistical Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in data analysis, data quality review, and data visualization.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex health datasets, with a strong focus on data cleaning, validation, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, data mining, and exploratory data analysis techniques.
  • Strong skills in developing and maintaining dashboards and reports (please provide links to examples or portfolios).
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in statistical and programming software such as R, Python, SQL, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a collaborative work environment.

Scientific Coordinator(CEMA)

Job Specification

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Medicine and Surgery (MBChB), Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, or a related discipline.
  • A Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Epidemiology, Public Health, Data Science, Health Policy or a related discipline. A Master’s degree in Medicine will be an added advantage
  • A Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s degree, or Certificate in Clinical Research, Clinical Trials, or a related field.
  • Experience with data analysis using relevant statistical or analytical tools
  • Demonstrated research experience, preferably in clinical studies
  • Experience coordinating scientific networks in health and/or health research
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating international workshops, conferences, and capacity-strengthening initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Pharmaceutical Technician – KAVI- ICR

Job requirements/Specifications:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized university or college
  • Must be registered with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons’ Board (KPPB) and present a valid practicing license
  • Must have valid Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection Training certificates
  • Must have at least (one) 1 year experience conducting vaccine clinical trials
  • Must have at least one (1) year prior experience managing investigational medicinal products (vaccines and medicinal products) including maintenance of cold chain storage
  • Must have knowledge and experience in the application process of import and export permits for biological materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Research Clinical Officer – KAVI – ICR

Job requirements/Specifications:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized university or college
  • Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council (Kenya) and present a valid practicing license
  • Must have valid Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection Training certificates
  • Must have at least 3 years’ prior experience conducting vaccine clinical trials
  • Experience and skills needed: qualitative and quantitative data collection skills, Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills, HIV counselling and testing, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Senior Research Clinical Officer – KAVI – ICR

Job requirements/Specifications:

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized university or college
  • Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council (Kenya) and present a valid practicing license
  • Must demonstrate more than 7 years’ experience in clinical practice post registration by the Clinical Officers Council
  • Must have more than 5 years’ prior experience coordinating and conducting vaccine clinical trials and other epidemiological studies from start up to completion.
  • Must have a valid Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection Training certificates
  • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities in the following areas: carrying out vaccine clinical trials; qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills; building staff capacity through mentorship and effective leadership in the management of clinic research activities.

Research Nurse – KAVI – ICR

Job requirements/Specifications:

  • Must have a Diploma in Community Health Nursing from a recognized university or college
  • Must be registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and present a valid practicing license
  • Must have valid Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection Training certificates
  • Must have at least 3 years’ prior experience coordinating and conducting clinical research including vaccine clinical trials
  • Experience and skills needed: qualitative and quantitative data collection skills, Quality Control and Quality Assurance skills, HIV counselling and testing, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
