Declaration of Vacancies – IGRTC Membership

The Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified Kenyan citizens to fill seven (7) vacancies for Members of the Technical Committee.

Legal Framework

This recruitment is conducted pursuant to:

  • Section 11 of the Intergovernmental Relations Act, 2012 (Act No. 2 of 2012)

  • Section 11 (3) – Terms and conditions determined by the Summit

  • Section 11 (6) – Disqualification criteria

Reason for Vacancies

Vacancies have arisen following the expiry of the six (6) year non-renewable term of the current members, effective 19th June 2026.

Position: Member of the IGR Technical Committee

Number of Vacancies: 7

Eligibility Requirements

To be appointed as a Member of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee, a person must:

Requirement Details
Citizenship Be a citizen of Kenya
Education Hold a degree from a university recognized in Kenya
Career Have a distinguished career in their respective field
Experience Minimum 10 years post-qualification professional experience
Integrity Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution

Disqualification Criteria (Section 11(6) of the Act)

A person shall not be eligible for appointment if they:

  • Are a member of Parliament or a County Assembly

  • Are a member of a governing body of a political party

  • Are an elected or nominated member of a county government

  • Are a member of a Commission established under the Constitution

  • Are an undischarged bankrupt

  • Have been removed from office for contravening the Constitution or any other law

  • Have, in the conduct of their affairs, not met any statutory obligations

2. Public Participation

Members of the public may submit sworn affidavits on matters of interest relating to any shortlisted candidate.

3. Documents to Present at Interview

Shortlisted candidates must bring the following original documents:

  • National Identity Card

  • Academic & professional certificates and transcripts

  • Any other supporting documents and testimonials

4. Mandatory Clearances

You must obtain and present clearances from:

Institution Clearance Type
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance Certificate
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Clearance
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) Clearance
Any registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Credit Report
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Police Clearance Certificate
Office of the Registrar of Political Parties Clearance

5. Additional Required Documents

  • Sworn affidavit stating:

    • That submitted documents are authentic

    • That you are not disqualified under Section 11(6) of the Act

  • Letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) – required for degrees from foreign universities

  • Recommendations from relevant professional bodies (where applicable)
