The Aga Khan University has opened applications for its Reciprocal Virtual Internship Programme (AKU-RVIP) for Summer 2026. This AKU virtual internship programme provides AKU students with one-of-a-kind cross-cultural learning opportunities. The application deadline is April 26, 2026.

The AKU-RVIP aims to build professional skills, advance academic knowledge, and promote equitable and innovative modes of mobility for students across all AKU campuses by providing access to international virtual opportunities with AKU’s partner institutions.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply for this AKU virtual internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria.
Applicants must be a full-time currently enrolled student at the Aga Khan University. They must have good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week with a possibility of extension.
They should be open to working in different time zones, as partners are based in North America and Europe. Applicants must be proficient in English and able to fully read and write in the language.

Applications submitted after the closing date will not be considered. Late applications due to technical issues will not be accepted as an excuse.
Step-by-Step Application Process
The application process for this AKU virtual internship involves several steps.
Step 1: Submit Application
To access the Terms of Reference (TOR) or Placement Description, click on the Position Title provided on the programme portal. If interested in applying, click on “Apply Now” found on each TOR. The application form requires basic demographic information, current educational experiences, a cover letter, resume, academic transcripts, and references.
Step 2: Video Interview
Shortlisted candidates are invited for a video interview with their potential mentor and the internship programme coordinators. The interview consists of a series of questions relevant to the position applied for and gives candidates the opportunity to ask questions about the programme and position.
Step 3: Notification
Successful candidates are informed within two business days following the interview.
Step 4: Administrative Fee Payment
If you accept the position, you must pay an administrative fee to facilitate the programme for a structured internship along with Professional Development sessions. Fees are payable in local currency at the following rates.
Pakistani Rupees: PKR 2,500. Kenyan Shillings: KES 2,500. Ugandan Shillings: UGS 75,000. Tanzanian Shillings: TZS 55,000. Great British Pounds: GBP 25.
Step 5: Onboarding Package
Accepted students receive an onboarding package consisting of the contract and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), which must be signed and submitted before virtual orientation starts.
Step 6: Departmental Orientation
A departmental orientation is held with your mentor. Once your departmental orientation starts, your placement begins.
This AKU virtual internship is unpaid, but students may earn internship credits subject to their academic entity’s criteria and guidelines. The administrative fee of KES 2,500 (or equivalent) is required only after acceptance of a position, not at the application stage.
