NAIROBI, Kenya – The Digital Health Agency, a government body responsible for transforming healthcare delivery through digital technologies, has announced a major recruitment drive for seventy project support positions across Kenyan counties.

The agency is seeking forty-seven Project County Support Officers and twenty-three Project County Assistant Support Officers. These roles are critical to the implementation and maintenance of digital health systems including the Provider Portal and Health Management Information Systems in health facilities nationwide.

Available Positions

Project County Support Officer – Forty-Seven Posts

These officers will serve as the primary technical and operational support link between the Digital Health Agency and health facilities at the county level.

Project County Assistant Support Officer – Twenty-Three Posts

These assistant roles will support the county support officers in delivering technical assistance, training, and system monitoring across health facilities.

Requirements for Both Positions

Candidates for either position must possess a diploma in any of the following disciplines from a recognized institution:

  • Information Communication Technology

  • Health Records and Information Management

  • Health Informatics

  • Health Information Systems

  • Equivalent qualifications

Applicants must have three to five years of relevant working experience. Membership in a relevant professional body is an added advantage.

Core competencies required include excellent skills in planning, organization, leadership, interpersonal relations, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working with health information systems or facility-level digital systems is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities for Project County Support Officer

The Project County Support Officer will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of all IT and Health Management Information Systems. Specific duties include:

  • Providing day-to-day technical and operational support to healthcare workers in health facilities for Digital Health Agency digital health systems including the Provider Portal and Health Management Information Systems

  • Supporting SHA registration and related workflows

  • Conducting review meetings with County Health Records and Information Officers and ICT Officers

  • Conducting user on-job training, mentorship, and refresher sessions for health workers at facility level

  • Conducting supportive supervision of health facilities

  • Supporting data quality, system adoption, and appropriate use of digital health systems

  • Liaising with County and Sub-County Health Information Officers and ICT on digital health system issues

  • Monitoring system usage and preparing routine support and activity reports

  • Escalating complex system issues to Digital Health Agency central technical teams and following up on resolution

  • Collaborating with hospital staff to ensure proper integration of software applications with existing hospital systems

  • Delivering training and user support sessions for hospital staff and relevant stakeholders on Health Management Information Systems and applications

  • Monitoring software systems for potential security vulnerabilities and taking appropriate actions to mitigate identified risks

Key Responsibilities for Project County Assistant Support Officer

The Project County Assistant Support Officer will assist in the following tasks:

  • Assisting with day-to-day technical and operational support to healthcare workers in health facilities for Digital Health Agency digital health systems including the Provider Portal and Health Management Information Systems

  • Undertaking SHA registration and related workflows

  • Supporting the preparation of review meetings with County Health Records and Information Officers and ICT Officers

  • Conducting user on-job training, mentorship, and refresher sessions for health workers at facility level

  • Delivering training and user support sessions for hospital staff and relevant stakeholders on Health Management Information Systems and applications

  • Assisting the county support officer in conducting supportive supervision of health facilities

  • Maintaining data quality, system adoption, and appropriate use of digital health systems

  • Liaising with Sub-County Health Information Officers and ICT on digital health system issues

  • Monitoring system usage and preparing routine support and activity reports

  • Escalating complex system issues to the county support officer and central technical teams and following up on resolution

  • Collaborating with staff to ensure proper integration of software applications with existing hospital systems

  • Conducting frequent systems surveillance to detect potential security vulnerabilities and taking appropriate actions to mitigate identified risks

  • Creating and maintaining documentation, solutions, and processes for the knowledge base

  • Preparing regular and ad hoc reports on technical support activities, resolved issues, incident trends, and providing insights to management for decision making
